Reflections

This morning Mae tolerated her Tinkerbell costume, which was nice because the kids were supposed to wear their costumes to Kindermusik this morning. It was so funny to watch Mae go from child to child, examining their costumes one by one, really studying them. Last night may have confused her, but I think she started to catch on to the whole costume business today.

I was really proud of Ted last night. He only took one piece of candy, not a whole fistful like most of the kids at our door, and always said thank you. When Sam was lagging behind, he waited to ring the bell til Sam got there. They were a team, after all. So cute. When they got home he looked through all his candy to find something suitable for Mae (he gave her a lollipop) and was fairly reasonable about not eating TOO much candy. I loved that after they were finished Trick or Treating, the boys took over door duty, handing out the candy seriously. Ted would even make small talk with them, commenting on their costumes. "Oh look how cute! A little pumpkin!" he said about our 15month old neighbor Elise. Hee. When a Red Power Ranger came to the door he said, "Cool costume!" I was at Target today (looking for Hanukkah-themed towels or dishes...nope, nada...anyway) and the costumes were half off. So I got Ted a Red Power Ranger one for $10 and a 'lead girl outfit' for Sam. I think it's one of those Medieval princess costumes, but it's dark blue velvet with a short skirt on it, so Sam will love it. Funny kids.
Today at pick-up (Ted stays for Yoga), Ted gave me a big hug and lots of kisses. It was so sweet. When we were walking out the 'enrichment kids' were playing on the playground (28 degrees out and my son didn't have a coat on...*sigh*) and he ran up to the fence for another hug and some kisses. What a sweetie!!! It was all I could do not to just take him home with me right then and there! Instead, I have one napping in her crib and the other snoozing in the car.
I wonder how long their candy will last with me in the house...
