Night #2

Last night was night #2 of Dr. Weissbluth. She was tucked in at 6:30pm. We went to bed at 10pm; nary a PEEP in those 3.5 hours. I checked on her just to be sure she was still breathing!! At 6am on the dot, she woke and Paul gave her a bottle. She went back to sleep and we had to WAKE HER UP at 7:50 to schlep to swimming. WAKE HER UP. In the morning. She SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT WITH NO CRYING!!!!!!! I am so happy I am tired. What is that about? Tonight is night #3 which is supposed to seal the deal. We'll see. I have some theories on why this worked so easily. First theory: we spent 6 months responding to her panic crying (her whine cry we tended to ignore). In these 6 months, maybe she has started to believe we will be there for her. Then, the last 2 weeks of 'proactive patting' seemed to reset her sleep patterns and eliminate the panic alltogether. While she went back to waking through the night, it was never the terror shriek, just normal crying. This made it fairly easy to move to this step. I am very encouraged.
