Mae's Big Night

Friday night was Mae's naming ceremony. It went so well...chaotic but beautiful. I dressed her in her white Chinese dress and did her hair so that it was pulled away from her lovely face. She was a bit fidgity during the service but had a grand time at the oneg, mingling with people and having a blast playing with the other children. I can't wait til I can upload some pictures...it was a really special evening. So many of our friends were there and it made it all the more wonderful having such support. What a great occasion.
We spent Saturday birthday party hopping and today it snowed...again! Lots of snow, more than they predicted but not enough to shut things down. I spent the day cooking up a storm and doing about 8 loads of laundry (I can't seem to get the laundry done during the week. I think it's because I usually start a load every morning. Since I am up and out of the house by 7am to get Mae to swimming, I skip that and then don't get around to it the rest of the day.) It was a perfect day to spend just hanging out with the family while delicious smells waft through the house. Mmm. I'll post a review after dinner!

Can you imagine that in the 30+ years I have been alive...I have never attended a naming ceremony? I only have two Jewish girlfriends and only one of them has children. When the first was born, I was living far away. The second was born just two months ago but they have decided against a naming ceremony. Now with our baby coming in 2008, I have to figure out how one goes! Thankfully we have a wonderful cantor and rabbi to give me guidance. Still I am pretty anxious about the whole experience. Any advice?
