Ode to The Pink Bunny

Last night I slept with one of the two soft pink bunnies Ted chose for Mae. When we send her care package, the bunny and a blankie will hopefully retain much of our scent. It was something, sleeping with that little bunny. I know that many children don't actually like stuffed animals at all, and that I need to find a blanket for that purpose. But, blankie or bunny, it was a sweet realization that someday, Mae might vaguely recognize the scent of these strange new people. Something as tiny and cute as a bunny holds so much promise and excitement for me. I am looking forward to three more months of cuddling with that little bunny.

Pretty Dresses

I can't pretend the prospect of a girly-girl doesn't thrill me. I know she'll probably be a tomboy with her wild brothers to show her the way, but there's a chance...

Mae already has a huge stash of clothes, many from the Krams' and also a considerable amount that Mommy couldn't resist. This dress is my favorite. I've received a few as gifts too...and they are so pink and shimmery...I just can't wait to dress her in them and take her picture!

This weekend Sam turns 2, officially. WOW. Where did the last year go? Then next weekend my mom comes into town for the annual Scottish Fair in Estes Park (Sat) and Sam's bday party (Sun.) Then the next weekend is "Day Out with Thomas" (Sat) and on SUNDAY.....the boys move in together! I'm sure the transition will be grueling...but I hope they at least get some sleep and enjoy the companionship. I think Ted will love it...whether Sam is willing to sleep with all the lights on remains to be seen...

That means that the NEXT weekend I can finally move in to the nursery. As much as I loved the soft yellow walls and sweet little bug border, it's time for PINK! Besides painting and such, it will be so much fun to organize all her little clothes and add the little girly touches to a previously gender-neutral room. I will then have the entire months of October and November to get the boys used to "their sister's room" and do other prepatory things, like preparing the care package for her orphanage and finishing up the 100 Good Wishes Quilt scrapbook. More on that tomorrow!! It is coming along beautifully.

I promise I won't post twice in one day all the time. I can't wait til I post about our referral. I just can't wait.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

That's the title of a book I want to read. The reviewer said she always reads it at the end of summer. Today was 100 degrees-no joke. Sunny, hot and perfect. We spent the morning at the pool, just soaking in all the summer we can get. It's funny. At the start of the summer I couldn't wait for it to be over. All my thoughts and energies are focused on Thanksgiving...the end of November....referral time. I figured once summer was over, Fall was here and it was only a blip in time before The Big Turkey appeared on the calendar. And it did fly...wow! This ranks as one of the fastest summers I've ever had. What happened to getting screamingly bored at the end of July? I'm not bored yet and school has already started! Oh well.

Here's the scoop on the violin. Ted is into it, his teacher is willing to take him, so I get to play too. Oh joy. In the Suzuki method, Mom plays too, which helps keep the child engaged and also so we understand how freakin hard this tiny person is working. I go in next week for my "Parent Meeting" and then he starts full force on the 13th. On a box...yup, no real violin for the first few lessons. At the first group class, they'll measure him. He is going to be soooo p.o.'d about that. Should be quite the diversion for me though. It's already entertaining, as we listen to the Suzuki CD all day until we are all screaming "mississippi stop stop!" in our sleep.

All for now. Blogging should probably be restricted to evening hours...but you know how it is with a new toy....gotta play play play.

Welcome to the world, mate!

Well, after months of everyone under the sun having a blog, I caved. I don't really NEED a blog...we have moeltini.com and it rocks. What could possibly be more important (or cuter?) than my boys and the occasional dog snapshot? Still, with the adoption looming sooooo close yet so far, perhaps it will calm my mind to write about it. So, The Daily Grind was born.

Why the title? It's the name of the funky coffee shop at UCD. I only teach there once a week and moan and groan about it all the time, because I *think* I'd rather be at home with the boys. And when I'm actually *at home* with the boys? You guessed it...I'm going out of my mind! Well, not all the time, but around 3pm....I'm done for the day and ready for my glass of vino. Sadly, I still have another 3+ hours to go before the relief shows up (aka Daddy). So, the coffee shop at UCD is a pleasant place and coffee always makes me happy.

In fact! In lieu of our desperate financial position, I have made, in my opinion, a rather bold proposition to myself and my pocketbook. No more coffee. I know! Whattheheck?! But it's true. I dug out my old espresso machine and you know what? Not bad at all! I can do a mean iced mocha! So, that has GOT to be helping, right? And no eating out either, unless it's special like Girls Nite or Date Night (? hmm..trying to remember the last time THAT happened...) but the constant trips to Noodles or Wahoos? Sianara baby! (that has GOT to be misspelled, right?)

OK, I'm going to sign off for tonight and do some 'editing.' Ooooo. Tomorrow I'll have to tell you all about the violin. Not just Ted! Oh no...in Suzuki MOMMY has to play too! I know, truly alarming.

G'nite fellow bloggers. This could be fun, or really lame. Let's see!
